I am looking forward to welcoming your child next week. This is my 6th year teaching grade 1 French Immersion at Forest Hill, and I am pleased to continue teaching next door to Mme McGregor. We work closely together and enjoy doing activities with the two classes. We are also happy to be across the hall from Mrs. Karns, who teaches the English grade one class. We share special celebrations and events together.
Please use the school website, this class blog, as well as information I send via Seesaw, and any paper notices, for your information. I work hard to make sure you are well aware of events, needs and happenings, so please be sure to check these tools regularly.
* A note from the office * -Welcome back, Thunderbirds!!
On the first day of school, our staff gathers on the yard – students, look for teachers who teach your grade to find out which class you are in. Primary students will be in the primary yard, junior students should assemble in the middle of the track, and intermediate students should meet near the basketball courts. New students, if you have not yet met your teacher, you can come to the office or just ask a friendly adult to help.
Parents, we are requesting once again that you drop you children off and leave our yard as soon as our supervision bell rings at 8:55 – this will allow us to start our day on time. Please remember that students and teachers only are permitted on our yard during school hours; this is part of our safe schools initiative.
We care about the environment!! … Litterless Lunches
At Forest Hill, we care about the environment, and this year we will be phasing in litterless lunches. Please send a large Ziploc bag in your child’s lunch kit, so they can bring home their garbage and recycling. Our goal is to reduce the amount of recycling and garbage that we process each day.
Things to bring:
pencil crayons and/or wax crayons (no markers please)
glue stick, scissors,
dry erase fine tip markers (no rush for these)
a full change of clothes in a labelled ziplock bag
indoor running shoes for gym (no crocks or flip flops please)
Classroom needs & wants:
Each day, the communication bags must come to and from school., please establish this routine early.
Friday we will be celebrating the colour Red, please wear ROUGE if you can .
The best way to reach me is a note in the communication bag or an email. email@example.com
I will be using the Remind app this year, and information will be sent home in September.
I welcome classroom volunteers. Please sign up with the office for the mandatory volunteer training and complete the required paperwork then let me know when you are available and what area you would like to help in.
